If you are in this age group - could be the kind of experience that is experiencing described in my notes in this article. For more information about the program and look for Rotary.org GSE - Group Study Exchange - and contact your local Rotary Club for more information and their website.
Our adventure continues:
28th April - Thursday:
Geisha houses in Japan are out of business, says Mika - why companies write more the costs can not be in Japan for tax purposes. North Korea, even 90% of the Pachinko-in> Japan - very political, which is why there are no other forms of gambling.
Ahh ... on the bullet train to Fukuoka - Storage Station - goodbye to our families here in Kita-Kyushu City - 20 minutes on the fast track, and we're in Fukuoka. We are here for the rest of the GSE team travel. San Mika ran from the team, meet at the office of Mayor to Deputy Mayor of Fukuoka. We were introduced kind - and there some gifts. Then we went toFukuoka Higashi Rotary Club for lunch - and it was a Fun Club There are six women in the club - perhaps accounts for some fun. We were given red rose badge as we were important guests - and collect all pins Japanese Rotary Moment. The meetings begin here with a member of the club's leadership of the song "Oh Rotary with a nightstick. Hisa, Izumi and Mika are proud of the American team GSE and speak well, we - have a lot of their staffThe time and took care that everything is fine. There is a race in the hall, as each of us is coupled with their families again - and begin a new adventure of knowledge. I met Rie Futata, Aoi, and her daughter - and take a taxi home. Fukuoka is a larger city to get a good U-Bahn - Aoi and I lap later, her nails are done - one thing girl.
29th April - Friday:
We met to go shhhooopping - the lobby of the Grand Hotel Nishitetsu today - every arrival of our guestsFamilies. Shopping - or rather looking for - my mother was surprised by this - because, at the mall in Japan is all about one-third more than the prices in America. At first I thought it was only special elements - that is Louis Vuitton, so many of them imported - but as we drove through the stores we all had the same impression - do not try shopping here - it's too expensive. It 'been fun to watch, but crowded department stores - is Green Dayhere, a national holiday and no school - so the main shopping area with three major department stores were full. As a team, we went to see where our hotel was in relation to the purchase (very close), and what the river there. The river is very picturesque with large balloons attached to both sides - the 'ball happy "- designed to get people happy again after the earthquake, a few months. We crossed the bridge over the river, and again - in search ofa place for lunch - and oh, there he is - yes! - An American hamburger place. We only had Japanese food, then - and someone noticed that an American hamburger Fried Wal sounded better - and treated Harry very much. We went to go, just enjoy the bustle of the city and faces. We met our guests in the lobby at 18:00 for an informal dinner - very local Japanese place called Vosu Dainmjo - in a side street near the hotel. It 'was coloredwith fish and selection appears shells potatoes and vegetables - and the group lost routier than usual as we become good friends and warm the other. Hisa, Mika, Izumi, Dr. Funakoshi and Tomo Condou were all there - sitting on the picnic table with style and humor and love to drink beer. Many of the food has that I do not know - were passed around the table. Someone said bad jokes - everyone was happy. We all went to a small bar and enjoyed James Brown on video - andMonica and Anthony showed us that they were dancing - style sauce - fun to see them. The families were like the night was waiting - but Harry, Monica, Tomi, Dr. Funakoshi, Mika and I were left and we jumped a taxi and went into a small bar to sing karaoke - that Dr. Funakoshi wanted - and were home late. You will receive a confirmation of how difficult it is to sing - do as the pros - if you turn on the microphone.
30th April - Saturday:
I like the U-Bahn -This is a quick jump from home Futata with AOI - around the corner and the station. Three stations are outside the station after it Nishijin Tenjin Street in town - and three blocks from the Grand Hotel Nishitetsu. Today, several Japanese inbound GSE team members with us - and we will see, a game of professional football. First, we have McDonalds stop (read some strange way here in Japan, so you never know, something that is the same - change theSyllable, so that the pronunciation of words is truly different). Lunch - take the subway - and we are near the airport - then and the Hakata no Mori Stadium - big stadium full of people. Anthony loves football - and we are here to Avispa (see navy) play the Purple Sanga (blank). Fun - Football is fast - the audience loves her - and fought after a game, there are points (0-0). Our Japanese friends have translation calculator - find a way to say"Dandelion" or, as in English. E 'is a sad day - as in San Francisco.
When we're here - in our hosts gave us a bag - $ 100 and $ 50 metro card. I understand that all Rotarians in the district contributes $ 15 to the GSE program - and have everything on this trip.
In the taxi back - Izumi and I have a interesting conversation - as I said the Japanese art never a direct answer, he says - or perhaps because of thisPerhaps - and ancient teachings (Taoism) is recognized that there is a dark and light - good and bad - maybe one day someone is good and a bad day - not all good or all bad - and then the Japanese can not never say for sure, for. No Yes - and with good - and sometimes, if so - do not - sometimes the other. But they can understand each other -, but that makes it difficult for Westerners to learn. This makes the Japanese flexible, high - notaggressive or direct. You need a good to us. The Japanese are seen in their actions - have respect, if I greet you, the hand is offered a business card because you have served well - and if you go, wait until you are out of sight. Sometimes you do well not to understand the language - you can see what people do rather than listen to what they hope for you - has awakened my ability to "see.
Antonio and I went to Rie Aoi and Moe(Rie second daughter) for dinner - an Italian restaurant - and I wondered what kind of cheese was on spaghetti - "cheese course", he said - we laughed (and cheese course) - But when he brought the bag, said, "natural cheese" on it - maybe mozzarella, parmesan, but not as one would expect of spaghetti - laughed.
This article is a standard - so read on - and many days to follow in our great adventure!
